Matt Dodd, a volunteer firefighter with the Central Callaway Fire Protection District, is in Joplin volunteering to help with rescue operations for tornado victims.

Greg Luebbert, chief of the Central Fire Protection District, said Dodd was visiting a friend in the Joplin area when the tornado struck.

“Dodd took his firefighting equipment with him and was involved in a weekend ride-along with a friend at the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District east of Springfield when they received a mutual aid request from Joplin to respond to help with the search and rescue operation from the tornado,” Luebbert said.
