A small area off of State Route E was evacuated for several hours Friday night after a single-vehicle accident resulted in a gas leak.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, at 4:30 p.m., Norma Crawford, 62, of Auxvasse was traveling west on Route E when she drove off the side of the roadway and struck a gas pipe line and a tree. The car was totaled and Crawford was taken by the Callaway County Ambulance District to University Hospital in Columbia with moderate injuries.
