Lady Owls leave tourney with victory

The William Woods University Lady Owls softball team managed to salvage a win at the NAIA national championships.

Senior first baseman Audrey Crabtree's two-run single in the top of the sixth inning put William Woods in front to stay, and the Lady Owls broke out for seven runs in the seventh to pull away for a 12-4 romp over Iowa Wesleyan College on Saturday.

William Woods completed pool play with a 1-2 mark to end its tournament stay. After opening with a 9-4 loss to No. 17 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University on Thursday, the Lady Owls were limited to three hits in an 8-0, five-inning loss to No. 3 William Carey (Miss.) University on Friday.
