State Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City, on Wednesday asked Gov. Jay Nixon to call a special session to deal with the nuclear site permit issue.
"I make this request understanding that a special session is a significant call which has associated costs, but I strongly believe that a special session is necessary on this issue for two reasons," Kehoe told Nixon in a two-page letter. "First, a project of this magnitude can only be accomplished with statewide participation. ...
"Second, the General Assembly failed to pass a "jobs bill' this session. I believe that the early site permit legislation lays the ground work for creating thousands of jobs and injecting billions of dollars into the Missouri economy without the use of tax credits, abatements or other state-funded incentive programs."
