State senators may get to debate freshman Rep. Mike Bernskoetter's proposal for an in-depth study of state employee salaries.
"It seeks to set up an internal committee to compare the wages of Missouri state employees to the wages of other state employees in other states," Bernskoetter, R-Jefferson City, told the Senate's Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions and Ethics Committee on Tuesday afternoon, "(and) to study and develop a strategy for increasing the wages of Missouri state employees and then report its recommendations back to the Senate Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee."
