Local volunteers head to help tornado victims

Much of the national media focus over the past week has concerned the demise of Osama bin Laden, or who was wearing what at the royal wedding.

For three Callaway County residents however, the devastating tornadoes that ripped through the south on April 27 - leaving 329 dead, communities in seven states devastated and an unknown number of people still missing - has been their major concern.

The Capital Area Red Cross has deployed a Fulton volunteer to Alabama and two Holts Summit volunteers to Georgia to assist tornado victims.

To help the tornado-stricken people of Dumas and surroundings, donations can be made to the Delta Area Disaster Relief Fund, care of the Delta Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 894, Dumas, AR, 71639, or through the Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 S. Rock St., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
