Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) maintenance buildings in Auxvasse and New Bloomfield will be closed and employees transferred to other Callaway MoDOT facilities as part of a drastic redesign of the department unveiled Wednesday.
The statewide cuts will amount to reducing the road design and administrative staff by 1,200, closing 135 offices and maintenance facilities, and selling 740 pieces of road maintenance equipment. The reorganization is designed to save $512 million that will be used for vital road and bridge projects.
