Spuds takes a break from his busy schedule as Fulton's canine mayor. The Callaway County Humane Society once again is sponsoring a Fulton Canine Mayor election.

For the past two years, Spuds the Dalmatian has served as the Canine Mayor of Fulton; making appearances at special events throughout the community and writing a regular column for The Fulton Sun.

This June, he will pass those responsibilities on to another local canine as the Callaway County Humane Society's Canine Mayor Campaign yields a new leader.

Over the past several weeks, employees at Fulton businesses have been contemplating whether their faithful pets should toss their leashes into the ring. Internal voting for which canine will represent the businesses in the official race begins on May 8.
