The manner in which it was procured may have lacked style points, but the North Callaway Thunderbirds now own their first-ever Mid-Missouri Conference baseball title.

Unbeaten and state-ranked North Callaway fought through defensive lapses Friday night, overcoming nine errors to battle past South Callaway for an 11-7 MMC victory.

The Thunderbirds - who shared the conference championship with Hallsville in 2010 - improved to 14-0 overall and 4-0 in the MMC with Friday night's victory. North Callaway moved up three spots to No. 7 in the latest Class 3 poll released earlier Friday by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association.
