Traditionally, police officers are supposed to stop speeders, but in a special event next month, they will be the ones speeding.

About 30 law enforcement officers from all across the state will meet at the Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon for the second annual Battle of the Badges Race. Three of this year's drivers hail from Callaway - Jason Conn, road deputy for the Callaway County Sheriff's Department; Chief Kyle McIntyre, of the Holts Summit Police Department; and Sgt. Jerry Arnold, of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop F.

These officers won't be gunning their engines and kicking up dust on the dirt track just for fun, however; Battle of the Badges is all about raising funds for Special Olympics.
