Brandon Talbot quickly dismissed Michael Minner during their initial encounter.
As freshmen at William Woods University in 1999, the pair came in as part of the Owls' new baseball program. Talbot was an all-state catcher from Elsberry, Minner a left-handed pitcher from Cape Girardeau Central.
Talbot was skeptical when the two first met and Minner queried him about playing baseball.
