Sales tax holiday set Aug. 5-7 in Missouri

Back-to-school shoppers can save some extra cash if they take advantage of Missouri's annual sales tax holiday on the weekend of Aug. 5-7.

During the annual back-to-school sales tax holiday, the state's 4.225 percent sales tax will not be collected throughout the state on clothes, computers and school supplies.

Some city and county governments are participating in the holiday and also will forego their county and city sales taxes.

In Callaway County, the cities of Fulton, Holts Summit and Kingdom City have elected not to participate and they will continue to collect local sales taxes on the holiday. Jefferson City and Columbia also are not participating in the sales tax holiday.
