A new pavilion with handicapped services and an enclosed meeting room is under construction by American Veterans Post 153 (Amvets) at 306 Broad St. in Mokane.

The pavilion is next to the Mokane Amvets headquarters building and near the Mokane Fall Festival area.

George Schell, post commander, said the new red, white and blue building was constructed by volunteer labor provided by the organization.

Schell said the 40x60 foot structure cost the group $22,000 for materials. Money to finance purchase of materials for the building came from donations and fundraising efforts by Amvets and its auxiliary.
