Fulton motorcycle group organizes ride to benefit Joplin school children

Ridin' the Road to Recovery, an informal group of motorcycle riders in the Fulton area, is organizing a July 16 benefit motorcycle ride from Fulton to Joplin to help buy school supplies for school children hit by a disastrous tornado on May 22.

The EF-5 tornado ripped an eight-block swath through Joplin that demolished 8,000 homes and businesses and killed 156 people.

Angie Gowin of Fulton said she and her father, Roger Gowin of Fulton, were discussing what they could do to help Joplin tornado victims. They came up with an idea of charging riders $20 to participate in the ride and using the money raised to buy school supplies for Joplin students.

To help the tornado-stricken people of Dumas and surroundings, donations can be made to the Delta Area Disaster Relief Fund, care of the Delta Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 894, Dumas, AR, 71639, or through the Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 S. Rock St., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
