About 70 descendants of Joseph Scholl II and John Boone Scholl, Callaway County pioneers who were direct descendants of Daniel Boone, met in New Bloomfield Saturday for a family reunion.

Scholl family descendants gathered at the Christian Church in New Bloomfield for a dinner and reunion to reminisce.

Barb Huddleston, curator of the Callaway County Historical Society, said members of the Scholl family were Callaway County pioneers.

Huddleston and Wayne Johnson of the New Bloomfield Historical Society brought a collection of Scholl family photos to share with family members attending the reunion.

Carol Trumbold of St. Charles, Ill., a great grandchild of Joseph Scholl II, presented a portrait of Scholl to Huddleston, who accepted it in behalf of the Callaway County Historical Society. The portrait will be displayed at the Historical Society building in Fulton.

Scholl grew up in a Kentucky community known as Schollsville, which included 1,400 acres that Daniel Boone ceded to Scholl's father, William Scholl.
