All four school board races in Callaway County will be a contest this year, with at least one more candidate than there are open positions on each board for the April 5 election.
In Fulton, six candidates have filed for three open seats, including incumbents Clint Smith and Scott King, both of whom first joined the school board in 2008. Lisa Pierce, who also was elected to the school board in 2008, is not running again.
Facing off against Smith and King will be David Hunter, Kathy Brandon, Kevin Habjan and Linda Davis.
The North Callaway School Board race will see incumbents Sandy Lavy and Regan Love running against Mike Shryock and Hadley Linnenbringer. Board member Chris Gilman - who was elected with Lavy and Love in 2008 - will not be returning.
Six people have filed for three positions on the New Bloomfield R-III School Board in the April 5 election.
Two current members of the school board have filed for re-election to the three-year term on the board. They are Gracia Backer and Suzie Mattern. Both were elected to the board in 2008. A previous member of the board, Patsy Suttles, also has filed as one of the six candidates for the school board.
Three candidates who have not served previously as school board members have filed for the office. They are Craig Abbott, Debbie Cuno and Michele Heuman.
South Callaway also has six candidates vying for three open seats, including incumbents Kit Glover and Brent Woods. Also running are newcomers Mark Laughlin, Nancy McCarthy, Bob Peneston and Penny Miles.
Gary Jungermann, who recently was elected as Callaway County's presiding commissioner, is not running for a second term.
