New Bloomfield man charged with possession of a controlled substance

A New Bloomfield man has been charged in connection with a drug bust that took place earlier this month in Jefferson City.

According to court records, Thomas Parker Jr., 20, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Police records show that on Jan. 12, JCPD's K-9 drug unit was called to a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Buena Vista for a suspicion of narcotics in a vehicle.

Upon their arrival, the driver of the vehicle, Parker, cooperated with a vehicle search, which resulted in finding two ounces of hydroponic marijuana and scales commonly used to weigh narcotics.

Alprazolam sealed in cigarette cellophane was also found along with an oxycodone pill under the driver seat.

The vehicle Parker was driving, a 2005 Dodge Magnum, is being held forseizure proceedings.
