Body found after Callaway County fire extinguished

Firefighters discovered a body after they extinguished a blaze in a Callaway County building on Saturday.

The North Callaway and South Callaway Fire Protection Districts were called around 3:42 p.m. to a structure fire at 9324 Chippewa Trail near Williamsburg. Firefighters discovered the building was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival.

Around 5 p.m., firefighters discovered a body among the debris. The State Fire Marshal's office then sent an investigator to the scene, as did the Boone-Callaway Examiner's office and the Callaway County Sheriff's Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
