CCSO arrests attempted-murder suspect

A fugitive with a warrant out for attempted murder was arrested near Kingdom City Tuesday.

Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane said Thursday that Johnathan M. Frencher, 19, of Kansas City, was taken into custody after the vehicle Frencher was in was stopped by an officer on Highway 54. Crane said law enforcement officers were given a description of the vehicle Frencher might be in and were on the lookout.

"We had information that this person could be in Callaway County," he explained.

Detectives out of Des Moines, Iowa, issued a warrant for Frencher's arrest on Dec. 1. According to the Des Moines Police Department, Frencher is wanted in connection with a shooting on Nov. 15 in Des Moines.
