An early morning fire Wednesday at 1001 Granite Court in Fulton caused an estimated $10,000 to $15,000 in damages. No one was injured in the blaze that started in a garbage dumpster next to an unoccupied garage.

No one was injured during a fire at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday in a garage next to an assisted living facility at 1001 Granite Court in Fulton leased to Finck & Associates, Inc.

Finck & Associates operates assisted living facilities in Callaway and Audrain counties.

Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Coffelt said at the time of the fire the building next to the garage was occupied by three residents under the care of Finck & Associates. "The employee of the assisted living facility made sure they got out of the building," Coffelt said. He said most of the fire damage was confined to an empty garage next to the structure.

Coffelt said an employee of the single-story, eight-unit residential complex reported the fire after smelling smoke. When firemen arrived, the employee who reported the fire was making sure everyone left the residential area adjacent to the garage.

"The employee did a good job making sure everyone was out of the building," Coffelt said. "He said smoke detectors were activated and functioned properly."
