SERVE, Inc. has a new executive director, just in time for the new year.

The SERVE Board of Directors announced Friday the appointment of Steve Mallinckrodt as the service organization’s new leader, beginning Jan. 3, 2012.

“Steve has a lifelong commitment to Callaway County, and to the critical needs of our Callaway County residents,” Board Chairman John Pautz said in a press release. “His nonprofit experience ... gives him unique insight into the needs of our community.”

Mallinckrodt, who served for six years as assistant manager at Kingdom Projects and 10 years on the board of the United Way of Callaway County, said he could not pass up “the opportunity to be involved with SERVE and be a part of the work they do,” when the executive director’s position was vacated by Lisa Brown at the end of September.

“It was a great opportunity to ... help meet the needs of people in a critical time,” Mallinckrodt said. “I’m excited. I have a strong feeling for the people of Callaway County and their commitment to helping, and it’s exciting to be a part of that.”
