Fulton Schools Foundation reaches endowment goal

Four months after launching its Founding50 campaign, the Fulton Public Schools Foundation has achieved its goal of raising $50,000 to establish a permanent endowment.

The goal of the campaign was to garner a commitment from 50 individuals or couples in the city to contribute $1,000 or more.

"This was strictly in Fulton to show the community supports its schools," said Bruce Hackmann, president of the FPSF board of directors, noting the donations were secured through personal one-on-one contact rather than a large fundraiser or letter campaign. "Our 13 board members contacted individuals and couples in the community."

Although Hackmann said he was not surprised at the board having achieved its goal for the endowment - which will generate investment income that will be used to support projects within Fulton Public Schools that the district itself is unable to fund - he was pleased to have been able to do so in light of the short time period and the current state of the economy.

To help the tornado-stricken people of Dumas and surroundings, donations can be made to the Delta Area Disaster Relief Fund, care of the Delta Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 894, Dumas, AR, 71639, or through the Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 S. Rock St., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
