Withers directs Lady Wildcats golfers to victory

MEXICO — Ashtin Withers shot a 49 to share medalist honors Tuesday as the New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats golf team launched its season with a 14-stroke dual victory over Mexico.

New Bloomfield accumulated a team score of 225 at Mexico Country Club, followed by host Mexico’s 239. Moberly also competed, but its team score did not count due to a lack of required practices.

Only Moberly’s first position player, Nicole Marquis, was eligible to count her score for the match and she tied with Withers for medalist honors.

New Bloomfield’s Shannon Crumpton came in as runner-up with a 50.

The Lady Wildcats play their home opener at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton at 4 p.m. today.
