Fulton to pursue people's garden

With the popularity of the SERVE Inc. and YMCA of Callaway County-sponsored community gardens, the City of Fulton is hoping to capitalize on that interest to spur activity at the new city park on Tennyson.

The city council approved a resolution authorizing the city to apply for a $60,000 People's Garden Grant with the U.S. Department of Agriculture during Tuesday night's regular meeting.

The grant proposal includes plans to put in several garden plots at the Tennyson Park along with a parking area, a small trail and a flower garden that would be maintained by local master gardeners.

To help the tornado-stricken people of Dumas and surroundings, donations can be made to the Delta Area Disaster Relief Fund, care of the Delta Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 894, Dumas, AR, 71639, or through the Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 S. Rock St., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
