County tax rate changed to produce same revenue

The Callaway County Commission Wednesday set the county tax rates to produce the same amount of money as last year’s tax rates.

The county’s adjusted assessed valuation dropped $1.3 million from the previous year.

The commission set the tax rates only a fraction of one cent higher than last year. The general revenue tax rate was changed from 0.3125 cents last year to 0.3131 cents this year per $100 assessed valuation.

The county road and bridge tax rate was changed from 0.2461 cents last year to 0.2466 cents this year per $100 assessed valuation.

The State Auditor’s office informed the county that its adjusted assessed valuation for 2011 was $702,336,496, compared to $703,663,173 in 2010.
