Westminster soccer teams picked fifth

The Westminster College men's and women's soccer teams both have been picked to finish fifth in their respective 2011 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason coaches' polls released last week.

The Westminster men - going into their second year under head coach Martin Clayes - went 12-6-1 last season, tying a school record for wins. The Blue Jays finished fifth in the SLIAC in 2010 at 4-3-1.

Sophomore forward-midfielder Ron Moore - a second-team all-SLIAC selection last season - returns after topping Westminster in goals (7), points (17) and game-winning goals (2). Senior midfielder Sean Peterson also is back after sharing the team lead in goals (7) and points (15).

Junior midfielder Graham Lloyd returns after scoring five goals and 13 points in 2010.

The Westminster women, entering their third year under head coach Jen Dyson, were 7-9 overall last season and came in fifth in the SLIAC at 4-4.
