James Pennell doesn't need to be reminded that he was hit by a car two years ago. Four surgeries in 24 months does enough to jog his memory of that.

But on Saturday, the Kingdom City resident got a well-deserved - and less painful - reminder of that day in July 2009 when a car struck him after he pulled a 2-year-old boy out of harms way. Pennell was one of four Mid-Missouri residents honored as a Case Knife Hometown Hero at Crane's Country Store in Williamsburg on Saturday.

Twelve names were submitted with each of the four recipients receiving a Crane's Store Knife as a gift. A similar knife was also the cause for a raffle going on during the event that raised $1900 for SERVE.
