Mo. Runner Amtrak train to receive new passenger cars

A $268 million federal taxpayer grant will provide new Amtrak trains soon to serve Central Missourians using the Amtrak Missouri River Runner.

The Amtrak passenger train runs between St. Louis and Kansas City along the southern border of Callaway County on the other side of the Missouri River.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said the grant was awarded jointly to the states of Missouri, Illinois, Iowa and Michigan to fund next generation locomotives and railcars.
