Lady Hornets' Hamilton, Davis both win twice at Helias dual

Junior Corri Hamilton and senior Meghan Davis both won two events Tuesday to guide the Fulton Lady Hornets track and field team in a 99-45 dual loss at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

In the boys' dual, senior Derek Musgrove took first place in the triple jump (42 feet, 1 1/4 inches) and was second in the long jump (19-9 1/4) as the Hornets fell to the Crusaders 111-31.

Hamilton triumphed in the 800 and 1,600 meters with respective times of 2 minutes, 31 seconds, and 5 minutes, 33.8 seconds. Davis prevailed in the discus and shot put with throws of 116-5 and 34-10, respectively.

"As we expected, Helias brought half of Jeff City to compete ..." Fulton head coach Andy Duncan said. "We were outnumbered, however, these Hornets stepped out of their comfort zones and went home sore but satisfied that everything we had was left on the track."

Sophomore Jenny McCarty added a first-place finish in the 3,200 (12:59.1) and took second in the 1,600 (5:39.9) for the Lady Hornets. Freshman Hayley Tobias was also victorious in the 100 hurdles (:18.6) and came in second in the 300 hurdles (:55.4).

Other top place-finishers for the Fulton girls included junior Rebecca Revak, second in the 100 (:13.6); sophomore Anna Raepple, third in the 400 (1:15); sophomore Kate Sterner, third in the long jump (11-9 1/2), and sophomore Mauricia Ferguson, third in the shot (27-1).

Meanwhile, senior Steven Maddox produced a pair of second-place finishes for the Fulton boys in the 110 high hurdles (:19.6) and 300 hurdles (:47.2).

Among the top place-finishers for the Hornets were junior Tevon Douglass, second in the 100 (:12.1) and third in the 400 (:58.12); junior Josh Hinchie, second in the discus (115-7) and third in the shot (37-7); sophomore Cody Winingear, second in the high jump (5-8); senior Blake Calvin, third in both the 1,600 (5:01.2) and 3,200 (11:58);

junior Macdum Enca, third in the 300 hurdles (:27.0); junior Sam Mayne, third in the 110 high hurdles (:20.6); freshman Daniel Lair, third in the 300 hurdles (:49.5), and junior Abdul Ameyaw, third in the 800 (2:23.6).

Both Fulton teams compete at the Blair Oaks Relays in Wardsville at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Ladybirds' Lindsey triumphs

in two events at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN - Aisha Lindsey took first place in both the 100 meters and long jump to pace the North Callaway girls' track and field team at Tuesday's Bowling Green Invitational.

In the boys' division, North Callaway's Jared Graves was victorious in the high jump and the Thunderbirds' 1,600 and 3,200 relays also posted wins.

Team scores were not kept. The top three finishers medalled in each event.

Lindsey came in first in the 100 in 13.22 seconds and triumphed in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 8 inches. She was also a member of the 400 relay - along with Meagan Thurman, Kelsey West and Marena Penn - that prevailed in :52.37.

Jordan Gray logged a first-place finish for the Ladybirds by winning the 1,600 in 6:03. Gray took second in the 3,200 in 13:14.

Other top place-finishers for the North Callaway girls were Jaida Gray, second in the 800 (2:42.82); the 1,600 relay of Kelsey West, Penn, Baylie Borman and Jaida Gray, second in 4:32, and Maddie Sorell, third in the shot put (28-1).

Graves took first in the high jump with a leap of 5-10 to direct the North Callaway boys. He was also part of the 800 relay, along with Taylor West, Anthony Moses and David Jones, that came in second in 1:37.8.

The Thunderbirds' 1,600 relay of Andrew Attebery, Austin Castle, Grant Hague and Ethan Watring won in 3:43.2, while the 3,200 relay of Attebery, Cullen Hudson, Watring and Ryan Pezold finished first in 9:16.

Also placing for North Callaway were Tylar Walker, second in the 300 hurdles (:44.77) and third in the 110 hurdles (:16.55); Jones, second in the 400 (:57.85); Hague, third in the long jump (19-6), and the 400 relay of Taylor West, Graves, Castle and Menard, third in :47.26.

The North Callaway boys and girls compete at the Centralia Invitational next Monday and Tuesday, respectively. The meets start at 4 p.m. both days.

New Bloomfield juniors win

four events at SCMS Relays

MOKANE - The junior high Wildcats and Lady Wildcats each won both the 3,200-meter and distance medley relays at the South Callaway Middle School Relays on Tuesday.

The New Bloomfield boys' 3,200 relay of Charlie Schattgen, James Bishop, Cameron Engelbrecht and Sam Niedergerke took first in 10 minutes, 21 seconds. The distance medley relay of Schattgen, Bishop, Nicolas Granich and Niedergerke was victorious in 9:21.

Meanwhile, the New Bloomfield girls' 3,200 relay of Mykaela Bonnett, Becky Bade, Nicole Dawson and Hallie Jeffries came in first in 11:57. The distance medley - comprised of the same girls - triumphed in 10:29.

Other top place-finishers for the New Bloomfield girls were the 1,600 relay of Bonnett, Dawson, Jeffries and Bade, second in 4:58; the throwers' relay of Taylor Howard, Ashley Kelley, Alyssa Bradley and Brooke Kelley, second in 1:07; the sprint medley relay of Zoe Welschmeyer, Jessica Daro, Morgan Mattern and Sydni Bedsworth, third in 2:13, and the 1,600 relay of Mattern, Welschmeyer, Daro and Bedsworth, third in 5:05.

The New Bloomfield boys' 1,600 relay of Niedergerke, Engelbrecht, Schattgen and Granich finished second, but its time was not available.
