Candidate forum set today at Holts Summit

Ten candidates for five contested county offices will appear tonight at a candidate forum in Holts Summit.

The forum will be at 7 p.m. at the Mid America Bank in Holts Summit.

Sponsors of the forum are the Holts Summit Community Betterment Association, the Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce, and the Fulton Area Development Corporation. This is the fourth consecutive year the candidate forum in Holts Summit has been sponsored by these organizations.

The candidates and the offices they are seeking are:

*Presiding commissioner -- Incumbent Democrat Lee Fritz is opposed by Republican Gary Jungermann.

*Circuit clerk -- Incumbent Democrat Curtis Lee Quick is opposed by Republican Judy Groner.

*Recorder of Deeds -- The retirement of Ken Dillon at the end of the year leaves this office open. Republican Christine Kleindienst and Democat Gabe Craighead are seeking this office.

*Prosecuting attorney -- Prosecutor Bob Sterner is seeking the office of associate circuit judge, leaving this office open. Republican Assistant Prosecutor Chris Wilson and Democrat Leah Williamson Baker are seeking this office.

*County Clerk -- County Clerk Linda Love is retiring, leaving this office open. Republican Denise Hubbard and Democrat Edna O'Neal are seeking this office.

Sponsors of the forum say the candidates will be provided one or more questions in advance and then take questions submitted by the public in attendance. Sponsors of the event report all 10 candidates have confirmed they will attend the forum.
