Lady Bulldogs take second at Bowling Green Invite

South Callaway freshman Taylor Howard directed three medalists with a fifth-place finish as the Lady Bulldogs cross country team came in second at the Bowling Green Invitational on Friday.

Howard logged a time of 21 minutes, 43 seconds as South Callaway compiled 42 points. Host Bowling Green captured the girls,Äô team title with 35 points, while South Shelby trailed the Lady Bulldogs in third place with 49.

The other medalists for South Callaway were freshman Abbi Luebbert, sixth in 21:48, and freshman Andi Rodriguez ,Äî 10th in 23:07. Also placing for the Lady Bulldogs were sophomores Serina Booher (26th, 26:05) and Jaerie Booher (27th, 26:07).

Medalling for South Callaway in the boys,Äô varsity race was freshman Tristan Peneston, 15th in 18:58. Sophomore Glen Healy also placed 40th in 21:07.

South Callaway competes in the Class 2, District 7 championships at Holden at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.

Lady Hornets,Äô McCarty

takes fourth at Richmond

RICHMOND ,Äî Fulton sophomore Jenny McCarty medalled with a fourth-place time of 20 minutes, 5 seconds on Thursday to guide the Lady Hornets cross country team at the Richmond Invitational.

McCarty was the lone medalist for either Fulton team.

Other place-finishers for the Lady Hornets included junior Kelly Oldani, 38th in 22:22; senior Jaena Smith, 55th in 23:31; senior Courtney Johnson, 63rd in 24:00; senior Brie Rohe, 72nd in 25:28, and senior Halie Burk, 79th in 26:23.

Placing for the Hornets were junior Brian Crosby, 72nd in 20:50; senior Richard Gibson, 77th in 21:10; sophomore Josh Hurt, 84th in 21:34; senior Josh Curtis, 85th in 21:42, and freshman Keegan Stone, 99th in 23: 18.

Fulton runs in the Class 3, District 5 championships at Mexico on Saturday, Oct. 30.
