A North Callaway school bus ended up on its side after an 8:15 a.m. crash on Wednesday.
North Callaway Superintendent Bryan Thomsen said only one student was on the bus at the time of the crash.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reported Joseph Bradley, 82, of Fulton was the driver of the bus and Craig Emerson, 4, was the passenger.
“The driver had just made his first stop of the day,” Thomsen said.
Thomsen would not identify which school the bus was traveling to and would not give any information about the student on board.
“We are waiting on the investigation by the Missouri Highway Patrol to be completed,” he said.
When asked if Bradley drove a bus today, Thomsen said he had not and they were waiting on the completion of the investigation.
“We also don’t know the extent of the damage to the bus. We are waiting on insurance to look at it,” he said.
According to the highway patrol crash report, a 2005 Nissan Frontier driven by Charles Gatschenberger, 54, of Lake St. Louis, was attempting to pass the bus in the right lane on Interstate 70 at the 151 mile marker. When the bus traveled back into the right lane, the two vehicles collided.
Gatchenberger’s vehicle overturned after the collision. The bus ended up on the right side of the roadway on its side.
The bus was towed by Russ Automotive.
