Kleindienst defeats Craighead for recorder

Republican Christine Kleindienst Tuesday won the race for Callaway County recorder, topping Democrat Gabe Craighead by a vote of 7,755 to 5,645, a margin of 58 percent to 42 percent.

"I'm looking forward to getting started and getting to know everyone," Kleindienst said.

Kleindienst said she ran for office because of her experience in dealing with real estate documents in her jobs with Boone Central Title Co. of Columbia and Boyd and Boyd of Fulton.

"I was on pins and needles all day long. I ran a hard race but it was the first time I ever ran for office. I decided to run because of my experience that matches the duties of this job a recorder," Kleindienst said.

"I was hoping my experience with documents would resonate with the voters," Kleindienst said.

"As I was going to door-to-door, people would ask me if I was currently in office. After I said no they told me they would vote for me but I didn't know it would be so overwhelming," Kleindienst said.

"I want to thank the citizens of Callaway County for their confidence in me. I am looking forward to making a difference and helping the citizens of Callaway County.

"I would like to thank my opponent for a good clean campaign. There was no animosity. I mainly worked on my experience. I felt it was a good campaign for both candidates," Kleindienst said.

"I am looking forward to doing a good job for the citizens of Callaway County and doing a good job," Kleindienst said.
