Warrensburg came up with the match's only goal in the 13th minute of the first half Thursday night to shut out the Fulton Hornets soccer team 1-0.
Fulton - which finished with eight shots on goal and three corner kicks - slipped to 11-13 overall. Warrensburg was limited to three shots on goal and also recorded three corner kicks.
"We played really well (offensively) in the second half; we were putting together passes and we played really well in the midfield," Hornets head coach Dave Milligan said. "Our defense was stepping up and playing the ball really well, and not laying back."
Fulton, drawing the No. 3 seed, squares off against No. 2 Helias Catholic at 5 p.m. Monday in the semifinals of the Class 2, District 11 Tournament at Boonville. The tournament field is made up of just five schools.
Top-seeded Marshall will face the winner of Saturday's quarterfinal match between No. 4 Boonville and No. 5 School of the Osage in the second semifinal at 7 p.m. Monday.
The Hornets suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Helias on Oct. 16 at Westminster College in Fulton.
"We have to get off to a good start and believe that we can play well," Milligan said. "We know that from the last time we played (Helias). We also have to maintain our composure."

COLUMBIA - The Lady Owls fell to 14-19 on the season and 6-8 in the American Midwest Conference after Friday night's 25-20, 25-11 and 26-24 loss to the No. 6 Cougars.
Junior middle blocker Lauren Fleming and senior right-side hitter Brianna Rodriguez led William Woods University with seven and six kills, respectively. Rodriguez and sophomore defensive specialist Amanda Henley also tallied 14 and 13 digs, respectively.
Sophomore setter Emily Nolte paced the Lady Owls with 13 assists.
Columbia is now 31-2 overall and 13-0 in the AMC.
William Woods travels to Park University for a conference match at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

SLIAC in coaches' poll
The Westminster College men's basketball team - coming off an appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament - has been picked to win the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the coaches' preseason poll.
Meanwhile, the Westminster women's squad has been chosen to finish fourth.
The Blue Jays, starting their 13th season under head coach Matt Mitchell, received seven first-place votes and accumulated 71 points in the men's poll. Westminster went 20-8 overall and 13-3 in the SLIAC in the 2009-10 season, winning its first-ever conference regular-season title and second postseason tournament championship.
The Blue Jays open the 2010-11 season with an exhibition against Austin Peay at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, in Clarksville, Tenn.
The Lady Blue Jays - entering their fourth season under head coach Tracey Braden - earned a first-place vote and compiled 51 points in the women's poll. Westminster finished 13-11 overall in 2009-10 and was 11-5 in the SLIAC, good for a fourth-place finish.
The Lady Blue Jays start their 2010-11 season at home against crosstown rival William Woods University at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16.
