A robber escaped with an undetermined amount of money from Hawthorn Bank West on Tuesday, marking the second local bank robbery in eight days.
The Jefferson City Police Department responded to the call at 5:23 p.m., after an unidentified suspect drove up to the drive-through lane at the bank, 3701 W. Truman Blvd.
Police were unable to determine the gender or race of the suspect, who was wearing a black ski mask and black T-shirt. The suspect appeared to be small in stature, police said.
Police said the suspect threatened the teller with harm and indicated that he or she had a weapon, although no weapon was displayed. The teller gave money to the suspect, who then drove from the area.
The suspect vehicle is believed to be a silver or gray Chrysler Sebring or Cirrus four-door with spoke-type rims.
The robbery comes one week after an unidentified black male subject robbed the Missouri Credit Union on West Edgewood Drive. The suspect in that incident was seen leaving the scene in a silver Dodge Stratus, which is also a four-door vehicle.

Because the corporation that now owns the NT either didn't do proper research on their new system, didn't have the wits to avoid a fly-by-night contract, or just couldn't pass up the price against the serious reservations of their web staff. It looks like all three.

Incorrect on all three counts. But if they were true, the same conclusion would apply equally to the Columbia Tribune (different ownership, using the same system), the Lawrence Kansas Journal-World (different ownership, same system), multiple other clients of this system, or for that matter, alternative systems running Facebook, other local news sites I've seen crash, and any other website that experiences troubles. Which, in my experience, is the majority of them. Why? It's a network of computers. Can't live with 'em; can't live without 'em. Nevertheless, just as all the other sites I've cited do, we'll take the trouble reports and continue our efforts to correct them in the name of fighting the good fight.
