Fulton names new PA

Fulton council members approved Casey Clevenger Tuesday night to be interim city prosecuting attorney beginning Jan. 1.

During the regular meeting, the Fulton City Council also approved the resignation of Chris Wilson, current city prosecuting attorney, as he was forced to resign due to being elected as Callaway County prosecuting attorney.

Clevenger will serve as interim prosecuting attorney until the general municipal election on April 5.

Wilson thanked the council and said he wished Clevenger the best in her new role adding, "Miss Clevenger gets to inherit the new smoking ordinance."

The council also announced the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the roundabout will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Members of the community are invited.

Mayor Charles Latham said the city has been given "numerous" ideas for what to put in the center of the roundabout including a flag pole, ivy and soldiers on horseback.

"Keep 'em coming," Latham said to those at the meeting.

The city is currently looking into two low bids that were given for a generator to place at the city landfill. Members were told the generator would cost the city about $17,000 a year in maintenance. Bill Johnson, director of administration, said the city would move forward in acquiring a generator despite maintenance costs.

It was also announced at the meeting that the city's new Web site, fultonmo.org, would go live this week.
