Tractor driver arrested for pushing cars around

Fulton man hospitalized after trying to block access

An Auxvasse man was arrested Sunday evening on assault and property damage charges after allegedly using a tractor to push parked cars at a Callaway County business.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Department reports its deputies arrested Douglas E. Moore, 46, following the incident at Mid-MO Auto Works, located at 6579 County Road 176 near Auxvasse.

After arriving around 5:30 p.m. to investigate, deputies were told Moore had pushed several cars on the lot with a tractor, and at one point, he drove toward an employee who was attempting to use a four-wheel ATV to block the tractor's access to one of the cars.

Witnesses indicated the employee, 38-year-old Mark Holliman of Fulton, had to dive off the four wheeler to prevent being struck. He was transported by ambulance for treatment of his injuries at University Hospital in Columbia, where he was listed in stable condition later Sunday night.

Moore also was charged by the Missouri Highway Patrol with felony driving while intoxicated. He was being held in the Callaway County Jail at Fulton on $50,000 bond.

The initial cause of the disturbance is still being investigated.
