Judson College 86, William Woods basketball (M) 81

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Owls were unable to complete their comeback from a 48-32 halftime deficit in Saturday's consolation loss at Mt. Mercy College's Bosch Financial Classic.

William Woods University, which dropped its tournament opener to nationally-ranked Bellevue (Neb.) University 91-59 on Friday night, slipped to the .500 mark at 2-2.

Sophomore forward Lucas Dahl paced the Owls with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds in the loss to Judson. Senior guards Justin Cornelius and Zach Roling also provided 13 points apiece.

Junior forward Jerone Lester and sophomore forward Justin Gilmore chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

William Woods shot 33 percent (23-of-70) from the field and committed 11 turnovers. The Owls were edged on the boards by a 28-27 margin.

Landon Skinner responded with a game-high 27 points to pace three players in double figures for Judson (1-1), which shot 44 percent (31-of-70) as a team and had 21 turnovers.

William Woods shot 38 percent (21-of-56) and was outrebounded 40-19 in Friday night's loss to Bellevue (3-0), ranked No. 23 in NAIA Division II.


Lester ended up with 15 points to guide the Owls, who committed just eight turnovers. Cornelius was next with 12 points, while junior guard Jamal Herriott provided six points and a team-high three rebounds.

Jerrod Tucker tallied a game-high 18 points as four players reached double figures for Bellevue, which shot a torrid 64 percent (35-of-55) and finished with 15 turnovers.

William Woods hosts Central Methodist University at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Arena.
