Callaway teams set to start fall practices Monday

With the end of summer fast approaching, fall sports teams in the five Callaway County school districts are set to begin preparations for their respective seasons.
Monday is the first day practices are allowed by the Missouri State High School Activities Association.
The following are practice times (all on Monday, except where noted otherwise) that have been received by The Fulton Sun for the respective fall sports in the five Callaway districts:
FULTON
* Football: 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the high school. There will be a short break during the session, and players are encouraged to bring a light snack.
* Softball: 6-7:15 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the high school field. Players are asked to bring tennis shoes, cleats, gloves, bats and helmets.
* Volleyball: Tryouts are 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday in the high school's Roger D. Davis Gymnasium, and 3:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
NORTH CALLAWAY
* Football: 5:30-9 p.m. at the high school field.
NEW BLOOMFIELD
* Softball: 8-10:15 a.m. at the high school field. Players are asked to bring gloves, cleats and water.
* Girls' golf: 3:30-5 p.m. in the high school library. Players are asked to bring their own set of clubs.
* Baseball: 6-8 p.m. at the high school field. Players are asked to bring gloves, cleats and water.
* Junior high cross country: 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, in the high school parking lot.
Student-athletes are required to have a completed physical before they will be allowed to practice.
