Burger, Lady Owls halt slide

The William Woods University Lady Owls followed senior guard Stephanie Burger's lead in stopping a six-game losing streak.
Burger delivered a game-high 28 points Tuesday night as William Woods manhandled Hannibal-LaGrange College 76-57 in an AMC romp at the Helen Stephens Sports Complex.
The Lady Owls took control in the first half, opening up a 47-28 at halftime. William Woods - which committed 18 turnovers - shot 49 percent (31-of-63) as a team.
Burger, who was 12-of-16 from the field, was one of five players to reach double figures for the Lady Owls (3-18, 2-7 American Midwest Conference).
Freshman guard Jill Sutton also supplied 13 points for William Woods, followed by freshman forward Amanda Workman with 11. Freshman guards Kelsey Frey and Amber Chambers contributed 10 points apiece.
Sutton also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to power the Lady Owls to a commanding 52-37 advantage on the boards. Burger and Workman each recorded 10 rebounds.
Holly Balkenbush - who was 4-of-5 from 3-point range - finished with 16 points to lead Hannibal-LaGrange (1-23, 0-9). Kashundria Berry added 13 points and Shundrae Faulk had 10.
