Lady Owls collect first AMC win

HANNIBAL, Mo. - Freshman guard Jill Sutton scored a game-high 25 points Saturday as the William Woods University Lady Owls earned their first AMC win of the season by overpowering Hannibal-LaGrange College 84-63.
Sutton was one of four players to reach double figures for William Woods, which has won two of its last three. The Lady Owls are now 2-12 overall and 1-1 in the American Midwest Conference.
Senior guard Stephanie Burger followed with 15 points for William Woods, which carried a 40-27 lead into halftime.
Sophomore guard Skye Wade - who was 4-of-4 from 3-point range - and freshman forward Amanda Workman added 12 points apiece.
The Lady Owls' bench also outscored Hannibal-LaGrange's reserves 25-7.
William Woods shot 49 percent (28-of-57) from the field, including 50 percent (10-of-20) from 3-point range. The Lady Owls finished with 13 turnovers.
Shundrae Faulk paced Hannibal-LaGrange with 18 points and Kashundria Berry was next with 13.
The Lady Trojans - who committed 20 turnovers - shot 39 percent (26-of-66) as a team.
William Woods returns home for an AMC matchup against Missouri Baptist University at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Helen Stephens Sports Complex.
