Baseball Blue Jays lose three to start break By The Fulton Sun
The Blue Jays (2-5) fell to Keystone College 9-6 on Saturday evening, then dropped both games of a Sunday doubleheader against Simpson College, 13-3 and 9-8. In the first game, Keystone scored five runs in the top of the seventh to snap a 4-4 deadlock. Westminster's Mike Oliveri took the loss in relief, allowing five earned runs on three hits, three walks and a hits batsman in two innings of work. Josh Armstrong went 2-for-4 at the plate with a single, a double, two runs and two RBI. Westminster's Phil Walter went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI during a 13-3 loss in Sunday's opener. Cory Grewe took the loss for the Blue Jays, allowing six runs (one earned) on six hits over three innings. The Blue Jays dropped the nightcap 9-8 when Joe Hickey - representing the tying run - was thrown out at the plate to end the game. Jessie Jett went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Westminster's Phil Stoll took the loss, allowing six earned runs on nine hits while walking three and striking out one. |
